Youth labour market still critical in G20 countries: ILO

  • Youth unemployment rates range from about 8 per cent to over 50 per cent in 17 of the G20 member countries
  • 17.7 million young people – or just over 16 per cent – unemployed in 17 of the G20 countries
  • Median youth unemployment rate at 16.1per cent, 1.3 percentage points above the average of 2006-08
  • In six countries the unemployment rate is above 20 per cent; in another six rates are in the 14-19 per cent range (ILO note)
