The report of the review into the future of our high streets by Mary Portas has been released.
Several good ideas – but nothing that looks like it might save our high street. Given specific nature of issues facing each high street (and secondary shopping centre) some kind of local lead with some clout is necessary – which I guess has to be the local councils – but this report seems to underplay their role. But I shall read the report again to make sure I understand it fully. At least parking is adressed.
